Jennifer established Gridder Cheerleading in Yorkton in 2012. She now has 140 athletes affiliated with the cheer gym with 14 competitive teams in 2025. Gridder teams have competed provincially, nationally and even internationally.
Cheer is a growing sport combining gymnastic skills, dance, athleticism and teamwork.
Coach Ingham is respected by her athletes. “She doesn’t care if we win or lose, she just cares that we tried”. A “work hard and improve” attitude is prevalent, but never a “win at all costs” in her gym culture. She emphasizes sportsmanship.
Her dedication to the sport and her athletes is unmatched. She is at the gym daily during cheer season. You will find her at cheer competitions sporting the unique orange colors of Gridders cheer. Clearly respected by the provincial cheer community, she is on a friendly basis with coaches from other clubs.
More than just a sport program, her cheer teams are involved in teambuilding exercises, crafts, volunteerism and leadership. The year-end celebration leaves each athlete a book full of memories – pictures and highlights from their year as well as positive statements from teammates and coaches. A laborious task but cherished by her athletes and an example of the “above and beyond” nature of her program.
Jennifer has been a member of the provincial governing body, Saskatchewan Cheer Association. She participates in coaching education and mentoring young coaches. Beyond being just a coach, Jennifer is a model of a strong female leader to the young athletes she coaches.
