These are the 11 men who formed the Yorkton Football Team – it was “football” to the early European settlers of the area, now commonly called soccer in North America. The photo is inscribed “Yorkton Football Team, May 29th, 1897”. Little is known about them, but it was likely the first sports team in Yorkton. Holding the ball is Albert Oldroyd, who lived at Good Spirit Lake.

We have made every attempt to correctly identify the items shown here, but the origin and dates of some remain unknown. If you see any items or people you can identify, if you see any that have incorrect or incomplete information that you can provide, or if you have photographs you would like to see included in this collection, please contact us at by emailing admin@yshf.ca.
